About Us

The Community Arts Council of White Rock & District was established in January 1974 to stimulate an awareness of the arts in relation to the district and its growth. We are an umbrella organization serving the community in the arenas of visual and performing arts as well as art education. The CAC strives to raise the standards of cultural achievements in the area by broadening the horizons and the scope of the community through the interchange of art forms and ideas.

The CAC is incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of British Columbia. It is almost entirely self-supporting through the revenues from shop and gallery sales, class and membership fees and box office commissions. The CAC also receives support in the form of grants and donations from the Province of British Columbia through the Gaming, Policy and Enforcement Branch, The British Columbia Arts Council, The Federal Government, Human Resources and Development Branch and the City of White Rock.

The Arts Council is run by a Board of Directors which is elected annually from the membership. The CAC also maintains full-time staff, responsible for the daily operation. A great deal of Arts Council work is done on a volunteer basis by its members.
