Job summary

This position will assist the Executive Director with the development of a new website for the organization as well as marketing plans, media relations and the creation of communication tools and sponsorship materials for the 2010/11 season. Other areas of focus will include research related to cultural programming and other community activities that the Arts Council might help promote or be part of.  The incumbent will also assist with the operations of the Gallery and Gallery Shop as well as some events over the summer months.
Summary of essential job functions

  • Research new marketing opportunities and work on a better solution for our web presence
  • Identify target markets/market segments, potential customers & competitors
  • Determine unmet needs and develop appropriate marketing plans
  • Work with the Executive Director to facilitate marketing functions (i.e., development of brochures, flyers, advertising, media releases, website updates, trade shows, etc.)
  • Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and others applications.
  • Perform general clerical duties including but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic filing systems.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements

Must be a Student going back to school in the fall of 2010. 

Strong writing and computer skills; excellent interpersonal communications, listening, and telephone skills; creative and able to think outside the box.  Students with a background in marketing, communications and/or business administration preferred.

Abilities required

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat applications; keyboarding at 60-90 words per minute; website design/website maintenance skills preferred; excellent language skills.

Wages: $10.00/hr
Position: Temp Summer - full time
